
Adele Mara (April 28, 1923 until May 7 10th, 2010), was an American actress, singer , and dancer who appeared in movies in the 1940s and 1950s and in television during the 1950s, 1960s and later on. Adele St. Mara was her official name. She got a contract from Columbia Pictures[citation required].She also gained experience in the studio's comedy shorts as well as "B" films. This was soon shortened to Adele Mara. Mara was a receptionist in Three Stooges' film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara and Leslie Brooks played the sisters of Rita Hayworth's character the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. She plays the role of Alias Boston Blackie (1942) as the sister of the wrongfully accused and exiled prisoner. When her Columbia contract expired, she moved to Republic Pictures where she was frequently seen in outdoor adventure and westerns. [citation needed] She appeared in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch which starred John Wayne, Angel in Exile (leading lady), Sands of Iwo Jima with John Wayne in which she was John Agar's love-interest, California Passage (leading lady), and Don Siegel's Count the Hours (supporting role).
